What a month October has been. If you were looking for glamour, we gave it to you in the form of many #RichTok articles and lots of content on our socials.
Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

We covered a lot of content on the rich girl. Studying her closely, we looked at heiresses past and present in history, film and culture. My favourite rich girl to write about was Cher Horowitz in celebration of Clueless’ 30th Anniversary. We also said the C-word a little too early and talked about Ralph Lauren Christmas, the trend that has swarmed TikTok, getting into the history of the style and how to make it authentic and unique.
We got some pointers from the art world on how to design our homes this month at Frieze Week. Speaking of art, we also stepped into the glamorous world of Victoria’s Secret, where we talked about Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, the cultural reference that inspired Jasmine Tookes’ opening look and created a transferable guide to achieve a similar look in your space.
Continuing with lights and luxury, we looked at the initial reactions to Taylor Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl. We took some of the iconic looks from the music videos and made them into a guide to dressing up your home on a tight budget.
Affordable Home Design Innovation

As someone whose goal is to democratise good design, October was a real treat. Bensons for Beds released two new Easyklix ranges of furniture that require no tools for assembly and can be reassembled multiple times without affecting the structural integrity of the products. Anyone who finds themselves frustrated with short-term lets or furniture assembly will find great comfort in this news.
October was also a month of debuts. La Redoute released their first in-house sofa, with others to come later this year, and French Bedroom launched their first ever bed linen collection. The styles are Parisian chic and cottage core which is very telling about what the world of design is craving right now.
Broke In Tweed Christmas Content

The C-word has officially been said. Brands have not been shy to use it in the past few months, releasing festive collections early (*cough cough* John Lewis and Desenio). Given the economic uncertainty, it’s sensible to plan ahead to make sure we can keep that spark alive while managing a strict budget.
I too will start getting into the Christmas spirit a little earlier than I usually do. I’ll have my Christmas decor up by mid-November and if you’re looking for some inspiration, you can expect me to write about it here and make videos on the Broke in Tweed socials.
You can expect guides on all things holidays. A holiday coming before the 25th of December is Bonfire Night. If you’re planning an outdoors watchparty or gathering, you must read our interview with experts on outdoor lighting, heating and furniture for low-cost considerate outdoor hosting. Back to Christmas, we’ll give you the lowdown on where to find affordable, high-quality decorations, lighting, trees, art and tableware. See it as your decor advent calendar (bar the cheeky bit of chocolate).
