A key piece of information to remember is that coffee helped fuel the French Revolution. Like back then, coffee houses embody the motto: Liberté, égalité, fraternité.

The post-covid coffee shop is not only a way for us to connect but also a great leveller. So Oliver Bonas’ choice to release a French style coffee ceramic collection feels right not only as an aesthetic move but as a call for camaraderie in rough times.

But this is about the ceramics. If you’re here less for the hand-holding around the fire and more for the products, here’s what you need to know about the drop, available to shop online now.

Designed by the Oliver Bonas Home & Gift Team, the collection is meant to feel reminiscent of a morning spent in a Parisian café.

Taking inspiration from traditional boulangeries, expect cursive typography and the obvious colourway of red, blue and white. There are also prints, bistro-style woven bar stools and stained glass decor that feels true to the design of the city as a whole (with its Art Nouveau influences).

Oliver Bonas ‘Beurre’ Butter Dish (£22.50)

I won’t lie: some of the products feel a bit touristy and souvenir-like. However, I love the beurre (butter) dish, costing just £22.50.

The typography feels like what you’d see on vintage packaging; although simple, the details it almost feels like rococo interior architecture. A very tasteful piece that would suit any kitchen that needs subtle pops of colour.
